T-Post Target Hangers — Setup Instructions

These hangers let you mount a gong or steel target directly on a standard metal T-post — no welding, drilling, or tools required. Pick the style that matches how you want your target to hang: locked at a fixed height, swinging freely from a hook, or mounted right on top of the post.

Which Hanger Do I Need?

T-Post Slider Target Hanger
3/8" AR500 steel • fits standard T-posts • no tools required
- Slide the hanger’s round hole down over the face of the T-post until it catches on one of the post’s studs at your desired height.
- Hang your gong or target from the bottom slot — directly through the slot for a fixed hang, or by clipping in the C-Hook add-on for a hook that lets the target swing freely.
- Give the target a firm tug to confirm the hanger is seated on the stud and won’t slide down under impact.
T-Post Topper Target Hanger (Elephant-Style)
3/8" AR500 steel • fits standard T-posts and 1" EMT conduit crossbars
- Slide the two prongs down over the very top of the T-post until the topper seats fully onto the post’s cross-section.
- Hang your target from the round hole up top for a straight overhead hang, or from the curved side hook for an offset hang beside the post.
- If using 2 Toppers, a bar such as conduit can be placed through the holes so targets can be hung from it using C-Hooks.
- Confirm the topper is seated snugly and centered on the post before shooting.
The C-Hook is also sold on its own (single or 4-pack) and is included in our 24" Target Hanging Chain Kit — handy if you need extras for conduit crossbars or chains beyond your T-post setup.

Care & Maintenance
- Check the slot and hook areas periodically for wear from repeated impacts — these are the load-bearing points.
- Touch up chipped powder coat to keep the hanger visible and help protect it from rust.
- Make sure the hanger is fully seated on the post’s stud (Slider) or cross-section (Topper) before every session — recoil and repeated hits can walk a loose hanger.
Safety Warning
- Pistol calibers: do not shoot closer than 10 yards (25 yards minimum for magnum pistol calibers).
- Rifle calibers: do not shoot closer than 100 yards minimum (200 yards minimum for calibers exceeding 2800 fps).
- Always wear proper eye and ear protection, confirm a safe backstop, and maintain safe shooting distances and angles at all times.
