Rockin' Sasquatch AR500 self-resetting steel target upright on its rocker base in the grass

Rockin’ Sasquatch — upright and ready on its rocker base

Every target in our Rocking line — from the Rockin’ Sasquatch down to the Rockin’ Gopher — uses the same self-resetting design: a 3/8" AR500 steel silhouette welded to a curved rocker base. A solid hit tips the target backward along the curve of its rockers, and it swings itself upright again under its own weight. No springs, no batteries, and nothing to reset by hand between shots.

How It Works & Getting Started

  1. Unbox and inspect. Every Rocking Target arrives fully welded and powder-coated. There’s no assembly, no bolts, and no tools needed — it’s ready to shoot straight out of the box.
  2. Choose level, firm ground. Set the target on packed dirt, gravel, or a shooting mat inside your target area. The curved rockers need a firm, flat surface to pivot on — soft sand or loose mulch can let the feet dig in and limit the rock-back motion.
  3. Give it room. Leave clear space behind and beside the target for its full rocking arc, and keep it well clear of berms, walls, stands, or other targets it could contact mid-swing.
  4. Take a test shot. Before normal use, fire one round from a safe distance to confirm the target sits stable and rocks freely on its base.
  5. Reset by hand if needed. If a hit tips the target fully over rather than rocking it back upright, just stand it back up on its rockers — no tools required.

Care & Maintenance

  • Wipe down the rocker feet after shooting in wet or muddy conditions so they keep pivoting freely.
  • Periodically check the weld points where the rockers meet the target body, especially on high-round-count ranges.
  • Touch up chipped powder coat as needed to keep the target visible and to help protect the steel from rust.
  • Store indoors or under cover between sessions if possible to extend the life of the finish.

Safety Warning

  • Pistol calibers: do not shoot closer than 10 yards (25 yards minimum for magnum pistol calibers).
  • Rifle calibers: do not shoot closer than 100 yards. Heavier magnum rifle rounds (.223, .308, 30-06, 300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua and similar) may tip the target rather than let it rock — match ammunition to the target as rated above.
  • Always wear proper eye and ear protection, confirm a safe backstop, and maintain safe shooting distances and angles at all times.
